We're incredibly grateful to players from Rotherham United and Sheffield United for showing their support for this year's Red Shoe Walk at their pre-season friendly. The event returns to Meadowhall on Sunday 2nd August.
Ahead of the game, players from both clubs proudly held up Red Shoe Walk t-shirts before their pre-season friendly, helping to spread the word and encourage more people to get involved. Their support means so much as we prepare to bring our community together once again to raise vital funds for people living with dementia across South Yorkshire.
The Red Shoe Walk, hosted in partnership with Meadowhall, is a family-friendly 2km walk around the shopping centre. Whether you're walking in memory of someone special, supporting a loved one living with dementia, or simply want to make a difference, we'd love you to join us.
It's been fantastic to see so many people across South Yorkshire getting behind the event. Alongside the support from both football clubs, Sheffield singer, songwriter and playwright Joe Carnall Jnr will be performing live on the day and BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Ellie Colton will be hosting the event. Ellie's own family has been affected by Alzheimer's disease, making the cause especially close to her heart.
Our CEO, Beth Crackles, said: “We’re thrilled with how the first ever Red Shoe Walk brought our community together in solidarity and are excited to bring it back for 2026. It was great to have the support of players from across South Yorkshire’s football community, where we know so many fans and their families have been impacted by dementia.
“We hope to see lots of people there on Sunday, walking together as a community to make a real difference for people living with dementia and their loved ones.”
There's still time to take part, with places available for families and individuals. Tickets cost £7 for adults, £4 for children (up to age 12), or £18 for a family of four, with under threes going free.
