Meet Vickie, our new Hospital Relationship Lead

We’re delighted to introduce Vickie Riley, who has joined Sheffield Hospitals Charity in a brand-new role as our Hospital Relationship Lead. The new role has been designed to bring us closer to our Trusts and most importantly, the people we support.

Vickie brings with her more than 18 years’ experience working in the NHS across Sheffield and South Yorkshire, with a background spanning procurement, commissioning, contracting and organisational development. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with clinicians, operational teams, local authorities, voluntary organisations and patient representatives to develop initiatives that improve services and patient experience.

“I’m super excited to join Sheffield Hospitals Charity,” says Vickie. “I’ll be working closely with the team and hospital departments to strengthen engagement and support opportunities that benefit patients and families across Sheffield.”

Greg van Heeswijk, our Director of Fundraising, said: “I’m delighted that Vickie has joined Sheffield Hospitals Charity. We know that some of our biggest supporters are the people who have experienced the amazing care provided by Sheffield’s NHS.

“It’s absolutely right that we build stronger connections with patients, families and staff, and Vickie’s role as Hospital Relationship Lead will help us do exactly that.

“With 18 years’ experience leading improvement initiatives, Vickie has exactly the kind of experience we need to help make this work across a large and complex organisation. Her experience speaks for itself and, as a bonus, she’s just brilliant to work with too.”

And finally, we couldn’t let Vickie join the team without finding out a little more about the person behind the role.

When she’s not busy being a theatre-kid mum, Vickie loves reading, singing with her choir and spending time with her family. She also enjoys the occasional run (currently on pause while she recovers from an injury) and, importantly, she tells us she never says no to karaoke!

The new role is an exciting step for us as a charity. We know that many of our supporters have a personal connection with Sheffield’s hospitals – whether they’ve received care themselves, supported a loved one through treatment, or simply want to give something back to the NHS teams who make such a difference every day.

If you've received amazing care from Sheffield's NHS and would like to show your support, get in touch with us at charity@shct.nhs.uk or find ways to get involved here.
