I chair the Board of Trustees. I’ve lived in Sheffield since I left university over 40 years ago, and when I retired I wanted to do something which helped the city I have grown to love, and which I’m proud to call home.  As the Board of Trustees, it’s our job to empower our executive team, to help them develop strategy and detailed plans to drive the charity forward, and then to hold them to account for the delivery of those plans.  I remain as passionate about the potential of the charity as I was when I joined seven years ago.

  2. Amy Tingle

I have been a Trustee at Sheffield Hospitals Charity for four years. Previously to this I was a Trustee of Neurocare Charity for 10 years before merging with SHC. I am the Integrations Director at Veezu Ltd and have spent most of my career in HR and Operational roles. I'm delighted to bring my expertise and guidance to a charity that is extremely close to my heart, knowing and understanding personally and professionally the importance the charity plays in the enhancement of care and lifesaving treatment for over 2 million patients a year and 22,000 staff across the NHS trusts that we support.

I’m a passionate advocate of transforming lives and reducing inequalities. As Co-Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions at Sheffield Hallam University, I drive recruitment and widening participation strategy. Having spent nine years as an Impact Committee member with Children in Need, and still as a Trustee at the University of Sheffield Student’s Union, I see the impact of societal inequalities and the incredible work that is done to reduce inequalities and change lives. I am proud to be a Trustee with SHC, supporting patient care and creating a positive working environment for our incredible NHS staff.

I have been Chief Nurse at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since October 2018, having previously been Chief Nurse at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. I am the nominated Chief Nurse for the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Alliance, and nationally chair the Safer Nursing Care Tool Committee, the Enhanced Therapeutic Observation Collaborative Steering Group and co-chair the CNO Safe Staffing Fellowship Faculty Steering Group. I am also a visiting Professor in the College of Health and Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. I really enjoy being both a Trustee, and also being able to see first-hand the important impact the charity has in supporting our NHS.

  5. Iolanthe Fowler

    Iolanthe Fowler

I was born in Sheffield and have a wide network of family and friends who live here and rely on our NHS services. I have been working in Sheffield since 1999 in a variety of clinical, educational, and healthcare leadership roles. I am a GP, Clinical Director and Associate Medical Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, wife to a fellow NHS worker, and mum of four young adults.  I am proud to be one of the Trustees for Sheffield Hospitals Charity, to offer my knowledge and experiences of working in healthcare to help shape and direct the fantastic work that the SHC team are doing to improve the lives of people across Sheffield. Sometimes, we know that there are opportunities to make a world of difference to our NHS colleagues, patients, and those who matter to them, but NHS funding just won’t stretch. Brilliantly, SHC supports Sheffield’s NHS to make these things possible, and I am excited to be part of SHC’s next steps as the charity works in collaboration with partners across our city, to deliver more of what matters to people.

I'm an experienced chartered surveyor with an in-depth knowledge of Public Sector property, asset management and local authority projects. My current role is Head of Property & Estates at Northeast Derbyshire District Council. I'm a former Commissioner for the Sheffield Race Equality Commission and was appointed as the Chair of the Economic Development, Skills and Culture Policy Committee in 2025. Health is an important driver of Sheffield's economy. Public health, healthcare services and the economy are deeply interconnected and my role as trustee allows me to support the charity's vision to ensure every person cared for and working in our hospitals, community teams and health and social care services is treated with compassion and has access to the best equipment and treatments in the best environment.

  7. Sarah Molton

I originally trained as a cancer research scientist and have held various leadership roles in charities and the public sector. These have all been about enabling cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation to deliver positive impacts for society. One description of a Trustee is ‘guardian of purpose’. Sheffield Hospitals Charity has a core purpose of supporting the lives of patients, their families and local NHS staff. It is a shining example of how the city cares for its community and it is a privilege to work with the team and my fellow Trustees in ensuring that we deliver on that crucial purpose.

  8. Steven Matthews

    Steven Matthews

I’ve lived in Sheffield since the late 1980’s and have a background in accountancy, holding a variety of senior finance roles, mainly in the industrial/manufacturing sector. I became a trustee of Sheffield Hospitals Charity not long before the COVID outbreak in 2020. As well as being a trustee, I’m also Chair of the Charity’s Finance & Performance Committee. We meet at least quarterly to review finances, investments, KPIs etc. I’ve enjoyed being able to adapt and apply everything I’ve learned in my day job to an entirely new context. I have personal or close family patient experience in most of the hospitals we support in Sheffield. Being a trustee is a powerful and worthwhile way in which I can contribute to the city that has been home for the last 35+ years.

  9. Tom Elliott

I am delighted to be a part of Sheffield Hospitals Charity, supporting the hospitals in the city where my family are from, where I grew up, and where I now raise my children.  My motivation stems from a deep-rooted connection to Sheffield and a desire to give back to the community that shaped me.  With a long-standing career in the life sciences working in the UK and overseas, I hopefully bring experience and a unique perspective to the charity.  As the CEO of the UK's largest medical technology association, I hope to leverage my position to drive innovation and enhance patient care.  Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure our hospitals continue to thrive.
