A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Meadowhall for this year's Red Shoe Walk. We had a fantastic day being joined by hundreds of supporters as we came together and laced up to raise vital funds for people living with dementia and the people who care for them.
From the moment the event began, the Summer Beach Club was filled with laughter, music and an incredible sense of community. Families, friends, colleagues and supporters walked side by side, many in memory of loved ones; others to show their support for those currently living with dementia, creating a truly special atmosphere.
We were delighted to welcome Ellie Colton as our host for the day, keeping the energy high and cheering everyone on, alongside a special appearance from Sheffield Wednesday legend John Pearson. There was plenty of entertainment throughout the event, with the ever-popular William the Unicyclist delighting the crowds, Sheffield Hospitals Radio broadcasting live from the beach, and the fantastic team from PureGym leading an energetic warm-up before the walk got underway. If that wasn’t entertaining enough, the crowd were led out by Team Bee Gees who kept the party going all along the 2km walk.
One of the day's memorable moments came from Joe Carnall Jnr, who performed alongside members of the cast of ‘How Could I Forget?’. Their moving performance perfectly captured the emotion behind the event, leaving many in the audience visibly touched and reminding us all why showing up for those impacted by dementia is so important.
Every step taken and every donation made is helping us fund projects that make a real difference to people living with dementia across Sheffield. Thanks to your support, we can continue investing in initiatives that enhance patient care, support families and help NHS staff provide the very best experience for patients living with dementia.
Whether you walked in memory of someone special, to support a loved one, or simply because you wanted to make a difference, thank you. Your kindness, enthusiasm and generosity made this year's Red Shoe Walk an unforgettable day, and we couldn't have done it without you.
