Supporting NHS staff impacted by domestic abuse

The impact of domestic abuse is far-reaching and doesn't stop at the front door.

The challenges people face at home can impact every aspect of their lives, including their wellbeing, relationships and ability to work.

For some, abuse may continue beyond the home through stalking, harassment, threats or unwanted contact at work. This can be frightening, isolating and leaves people feeling unsafe.

As your charity, we're proud to fund REACH, a project created to support staff at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Health Partnership.

REACH support is delivered by a team from IDAS - a specialist charity with many years' experience of supporting and accommodating victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

REACH offers confidential support to NHS staff impacted by domestic abuse, as well as training and guidance to help support colleagues with confidence.

Whether you need support yourself or want to help someone else, REACH is here for you.

Confidential support when you need it

If you're experiencing controlling, threatening or abusive behaviour from a current or former partner, or a family member, REACH can provide:

  • Confidential advice and emotional support

  • Personal safety planning

  • Help accessing specialist services

  • Support tailored to what's right for you

  • You don't have to face anything alone.

Support is available from the REACH team at IDAS:

Helpline: 0808 808 2241

Live Chat or online contact form on their website here.

Want to support your colleagues with confidence?

Domestic abuse can have a significant impact on staff wellbeing, safety, attendance and retention.

REACH works with you to build knowledge, confidence and workplace responses needed to support your colleagues.

The REACH team offer:

  • Training and awareness raising

  • Advice for managers and teams

  • Guidance on workplace responses

  • Support to create safer workplaces

Contact the REACH team for more information: reach@idas.org.uk

By funding REACH, we're helping ensure NHS staff across Sheffield have access to expert support when they need it most, while giving colleagues and managers the knowledge and confidence to support one another.

Respond. Empower. Awareness. Culture. Help

If you think you or someone you work with could benefit from REACH, get in touch. No one should have to face domestic abuse alone.
